  Sophomore portfolio review

  After your foundations year (ART 1100, 1110, 1200) you submit a portfolio for a faculty review. Communication Design, Studio Art, and Art Education all run a version of this. About 60% of applicants advance into the BFA each cycle.

  Music

  Audition + pre-screen

  Performance, music education, jazz studies, and composition all require an audition before admission. Pre-screening recordings are due in early December; on-campus auditions run January through February.

  Audition or portfolio

  Performance tracks need a live audition. Design and tech tracks bring a portfolio instead. BFA review continues annually through year 2, so admission isn't the last word.

  Competitive admission + TEAS

  Pre-nursing students complete prerequisites, then apply to the BSN program. Around 80 cohort seats per term; admit GPA averages near 3.5. Acceptance is not automatic from pre-nursing.

  Beyond your subject major, certification adds content + pedagogy exams (TExES), fingerprinting, and observation hours that begin in year 3. Student teaching is a full semester block in year 4.

  Math placement decides the start

  Without AP Calc credit or transfer credit, students often start at MATH 1650 (Pre-Calc). That adds a semester before Calc I and pushes major-specific courses back, which can stretch a 4-year plan to 4.5.

  Hospitality, event & tourism

  800 internship hours required

  Two coordinator-approved internships totaling 800 hours are required to graduate. Most students complete one paid internship in the summer between year 2 and 3, then a second in year 4.

  Pre-health is a track, not a major. Most students major in BIOL or CHEM, then stack the MCAT (or DAT/PCAT), letters, and 100+ documented clinical hours before applying to professional school.
